Houston, TX (April 5, 2023) — The Printing Museum is pleased to present Book Arts of Houston, an exhibition centered around the history of book arts in Houston and promoting its future.

Book Arts of Houston demonstrates book arts’ quiet legacy and enduring popularity amongst individual Houston artists despite little public attention given to the medium. Using “book arts” as an umbrella term to refer to a range of practices including bookbinding, artists’ books, and multiples, the exhibition provides a broad range of craft and conceptual work.

TPM Tours the Houston Chronicle


On the last day of August, twelve TPM staff, docents, and volunteers embarked on a tour of the Houston Chronicle offices and press room, led by Elizabeth Pudwill, 25-year veteran, Executive Assistant to the Editor, and primary caretaker of the newsroom dog, Ginger.

The tour of the Chronicle’s headquarters on Southwest Freeway started in the lobby underneath a quote by Jesse Jones engraved in marble (a relic from its former building downtown).

The publication of a newspaper is a distinct public trust and one not to be treated lightly or abused for selfish purposes or to gratify selfish whims. A great daily newspaper can remain a power for good only so long as it is uninfluenced by unworthy motives and unbought by the desire for gain.

Moving a Museum

The process of moving a museum — collections, offices, and equipment some of which weigh thousands of pounds — is no simple task. Moving The Printing Museum was a once in a generation opportunity to take a long, hard look at our programs, facilities, and collections to determine how best to use all three to advance our mission to ignite creativity, foster hands-on self-expression, and champion history and power of print.

TPM to close West Clay facility to the public after May 28, to prepare for Midtown move


Virtual public programs to continue

The Printing Museum will close its galleries and studios at 1324 West Clay Street — its home for 40 years — to the public after May 28, to prepare for its relocation to 3121 San Jacinto Street in Midtown later this summer.

All in-person programs — including but not limited to exhibitions, guided tours, public and private workshops and events — will be on hiatus during the summer. The museum will continue to offer virtual programs during the transition.
