Printmaking: Explore basic printmaking techniques with household objects!

Book Arts: Create your own booklets and paper projects, then decorate them!

We recommended kids wear clothes that can get dirty. We will provide smocks. Children under 10 require parental supervision during all activities.

Joan Son is an American artist who has devoted her career to the exploration of contemporary origami as fine art. Since 1964, when she first learned to fold the traditional crane, Son has been intrigued with the art, math, and magic of paper folding. Her professional origami career debuted in the windows of Tiffany & Co. in the spring of 1993.

Discover this ancient art form from the Far East of layered unfolding pockets. Using basic paper-folding techniques, build and decorate an intricate book/portfolio for storing almost anything flat: thread, stamps, buttons, and more! No experience necessary. All materials are included however attendees are welcome to bring decorative paper and other items (ribbons, thread, buttons) to embellish their box.

Lynn Williams is a fiber artist and printmaker and member of the Houston Book Arts Guild.
