Calligraphy adds creative flair to correspondence, parties, decorations, art projects, and more. Learn more about this ancient art that is still popular today in Basic Italic Calligraphy with Terry Hausner. The class will introduce you to the basic italic calligraphy alphabet and teach you beginner techniques you can use to practice making letter forms. You’ll learn about the tools and materials every calligrapher needs and how to hold and use the pen, starting with basic strokes.

Week One (Apr 16): Brief history of the hand, tools and set up, minuscule (lower case) strokes and letter construction.
Week Two (Apr 23): Majuscule (capitals) strokes and letter construction. Combination of upper and lower case letters with line spacing and sentence structure.
Week Three (Apr 30): Adding flourishes, layout, and design, envelope writing and set up.
