This workshop will be held in two parts:

Learn the fundamental practices necessary to begin letterpress printing using hand-set type on a cylinder press. Working in pairs, students will learn basic composition, printer’s math, lock-up, printing, and safe studio practices. Students will have access to a curated selection of the studio’s vast collection of wood and metal type to use in their project. Everyone will walk away with an edition of printed work. This class is a foundation course and satisfies the pre-requisite requirement for Intermediate Letterpress.
All experience levels welcome. Ages: 16+
Optional materials to bring: please bring a pair of reusable gloves, all other materials supplied.
