White-Line Woodcut is a great and simple way to merge printmaking with watercolor to create an edition, or endless variations of a design that are both graphic and painterly. The technique was popularized by a group of artists known as the “Provincetown Printers” in the early 20th century. These artists were looking for a way to make reproductions of their watercolor works for sale. This workshop requires no previous experience in either printmaking, watercolor, or woodcarving.
Materials: Participants are to bring their own wood carving tools. Suggested tools include FlexCut Palm Tools, Power Grip, or similar. Speedball cutting tools are not recommended for this class. You may wish to bring your own apron and reusable gloves.
