Learn Letterpress 1: Printing FUNdamentals
March 24, 6:30 – 7:30pm online via Zoom
March 25, 10:00am – 5:00pm in-person at The Printing Museum
All times are US/Central time zone
Have a blast while building letterpress basics and learn why contemporary printmakers and book artists continue to work with these tools and techniques. Through a hands-on printing project, students will gain a foundational understanding of the principles of letterpress printing. Using a curated selection from the movable type collection, sign presses, and hand-operated Vandercook presses, students will come away with an edition of a small poster or similar side project and the satisfaction of pulling beautiful prints!
In the hybrid format, students will meet for one-hour over zoom the evening before to prepare for a full day of printing.
This class is open to all levels and is a pre-req for continuing skill progression in letterpress level 2 and 3 classes. Successful completion of Levels 1, 2, and 3 certifies a student to use letterpress equipment during Open Studio.
Adults 18+. All materials supplied.
Registration: $155, includes all materials.
