Learn the basics of safely and securely locking up type and images in a platen press chase. In this class, Michelle Wiebe will walk you through the fundamentals of setting type, furniture placement, quoin lock up and registration. We will also explore makeready, shimming items, leveling a platen press, as well as common lock up frustrations and troubleshooting. This class is designed to help you understand the underlying principles so that you can be confident that you are producing beautiful prints without damaging your press and type. There will also be plenty of time for questions throughout this interactive event, participants who have sketches and ideas, need advice on current projects are encouraged to keep them at hand for specific advice on achieving successful prints.
