Directly printing forms found in the natural world has been used for centuries by scientists, naturalists and artists to preserve the ephemeral beauty of nature. This three-hour live online demonstration and discussion workshop explores a variety of printmaking techniques to create images on paper with fresh and pressed plant materials. 

Demonstrations include: Botanical contact printing, also called eco-printing, an immersion technique where bundles of plants and paper are cooked in a dye bath. Traditional Japanese nature printing of fresh specimens on washi papers and direct brayer printing techniques plus watercolor painted leaf prints, collagraphs and monotype printing methods that can be made with an etching press or a craft die-cutting machine. Each student will receive a detailed pdf handout with resources prior to the class. Printed examples of the techniques presented by Rebecca will be mailed to each participant following the class!
