Linocut Printmaking for Letterpress

Whether you are looking to make limited edition prints or carve your own re-useable set of blocks, carving your own linoleum is a useful skill for any letterpress printer. Michelle Wiebe will show you specific tools and skills for designing, carving and printing your blocks with a press. She will cover image transfer, safe carving methods, mounting and shimming blocks and achieving optimal ink coverage. Using lots visuals and demonstrating on a table top Kelsey Platen Press she will also demonstrate many different approaches and methods to get the results you are looking for as well as troubleshooting common issues. This class is perfect for beginners in linocut printmaking and/or letterpress printing or for those looking for a refresher. Location: Online via Zoom. We are planning to make a recording of the program available to everyone who has registered, so you will be able to watch the entire program at your convenience even if you can’t join us live.
