Letterpress Notecards and Handmade Envelopes

Learn the basics of letterpress printing on a tabletop press while creating a set of notecards. Far smaller than a Vandercook proof press, these upright presses are great for printing cards or small invitations. Students will have a selection of artwork and a variety of papers from which to choose. Templates for handmade envelopes will also be available. Please bring an apron and a pair of rubber or latex gloves.

Cost:  $100 (includes materials)

Cancellations and refund requests must be made a minimum of three days (72 hours) prior to the first class date, by calling (713) 522-4652. In the event that minimum enrollment is not met, the Museum reserves the right to cancel the class and will provide a full refund.

Suzanne Powney

Suzanne Powney works as a freelance graphic designer and letterpress printer. With a background in both architecture and graphic design, she has worked in her own letterpress studio for seven years and teaches letterpress workshops at University of Houston and with the MPH Printers Guild. She does printing demonstrations for local clubs to share her knowledge of letterpress with the community. With a love for texture and ink on paper, her passion lies with letterpress printing and design. She currently operates BlackDog Press out of her home in the Heights.
