Hot Metal Stamping on Book Covers
Houston Book Arts Guild Meeting
October 1, 2015
6pm-8pm at The Printing Museum
The Bindery at The Printing Museum is loaded with cool tools and on Thursday, October 1st we’ll get a good look at a few. Missy Bosch will lead this demonstration and hands-on sampling of the electric hot foil stamping machine.
First, we’ll take a good look at the beautiful embossing wheels in the museum’s collection and samples of what they can do. Then, after demonstrating how the hot foil machine works, each member can choose a small piece of leather or book cloth-covered book board to emboss the design of their choice.
This sample can be made into a bookmark or small book cover and there is no cost.
Our thanks to Tony Vela of The Bookbindery for lending us some metal stamps and our own letterpress studio for lending us some type to try!
Please respond to notsuoh@mac.com just so we can get a head count. The Houston Book Arts Guild is a program of The Printing Museum. Membership in the Guild is free and open to all persons interested in the art of the book.
