Copperplate Calligraphy

October 17, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Thursdays: October 17, 24, & 31 | 6:00-9:00pm

Copperplate calligraphy is a traditional script derived from a form of handwriting called the english round hand. The class will introduce you to the copperplate calligraphy alphabet and teach you beginner techniques you can use to practice making letter forms. You’ll learn about the tools and materials every calligrapher needs and how to hold and use the pen, starting with basic strokes.

Week One: Brief history of the hand, tools and set up, minuscule (lower case) strokes and letter construction.
Week Two: Majuscule (capitals) strokes and letter construction. Combination of upper and lower case letters with line spacing and sentence structure.
Week Three: Adding flourishes, layout, and design, envelope writing and set up.

Registration: $200 including all materials; members receive a 10% discount. Become a member today!
Members must log in to activate the discount. If you don’t have a login, please contact us at info[at]printingmuseum.org.
