AGES: 13+ LEVELS: No previous experience required

Printmaking usually refers to a process of making multiples, or “copies”. However artists have long experimented with using printmaking methods to create singular works of art, called monotypes. This intensive workshop establishes the fundamental approaches to Monotype, and quickly expands into more specific but complex methodologies that can be used to endless effect. We will be using oil based inks, plexiglass as the plate material, and the Printing Museum’s large hand-operated etching press to print! These techniques are a great segue into printmaking for artists working in other areas such as painting or drawing, yielding rich, organic, and graphic results! All levels of experience are welcome!
