Taller Michoacan

October 27, 2009– March 13, 2010

OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, November 12th, 6-8pm

In collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico and the Mexican Cultural Institute in San Antonio, the Museum of Printing History is pleased to present Taller Michoacan. This exhibition consists of selected prints produced at the Taller del Centro de Formación y Producción Gráfica del Antiguo Colegio Jesuita de Pátzcuaro, Michoacán.

Maestro Derli Romero coordinates the activities of the Taller. From its creation in 2003, the workshop has offered a space for the production of print-based work using media such as relief printing, photogravure, and lithography. This exhibition presents the results of five fruitful years of work by the Taller, establishing a dialogue between artists from the region, who represent half of the participants, and artists from other parts of Mexico, the United States, Russia, Spain, Germany, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Czechoslovakia. All artists work under the guidance of Maestro Romero, who is credited with making the studio of Antiguo Colegio Jesuita one of the most important graphic workshops in North America today.
