The TPM Listening Tour

July 9, 2016 @ 5:00 am - 6:30 am

Throughout 2016, The TPM Listening Tour will gather together groups of Museum Board members, staff, volunteers, supporters, Museum Members, and the general public, to informal, small group conversations with the Museum’s executive director, Mark Osborne. Beginning Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m., The Listening Tour conversations will take place at The Printing Museum in its theater. Conversations will continue each month on the second Saturday (please see the full schedule below) through November, 2016. The conversations will be led by the Mr. Osborne, with him giving some brief introductory remarks and then, acting as moderator for the discussion. A list of questions will be developed to guide the conversation, but the overall course of the dialogue will be driven by the participants. Mr. Osborne will continue to travel the city to meet with community leaders, educators and elected officials.

The goals of The TPM Listening Tour remain the same: a) to gain a better understanding of the needs of our community, b) to determine what role a museum dedicated to printing can play in our digital age, and c) to see how we can become more accessible and relevant to those we serve.

Organizer

Texas Booksellers Association

The Texas Booksellers Association is a group of independent booksellers and other book-related businesses focused in Texas.

The primary goal of the Association is to join together and represent local booksellers and supporters of the book community in their efforts to cultivate interest in literature and book collecting. We share the common goals of cultivating appreciation of books and the written word in the community, maintaining the vitality of the independent book trade, and promoting ethical trade practices.

We are always trying to expand our community outreach by providing educational programs through local colleges and promoting events and information about book arts.  We also hope to provide many additional benefits for our members.

We sponsor book shows in Austin, Fort Worth and Houston each year, where member and non-member exhibitors present books and related materials to the public.
