Scarcity Letterpress Printing

May 28 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Are you new to letterpress printing or do you live in an area that is far from tools and supplies? Join Michelle Wiebe as she explores the dos and don’ts of improvising materials with your presses and projects. This interactive demonstration will cover the logic behind why we strive to use the traditional materials in our printing and alternatives that are safe for both you and your machine. Topics covered will include materials for lock up, printing and clean up that can be easily sourced from your local art or hardware store. Also discussed will be alternatives to press accessories such as gauge pins, tympan paper and rollers as well as how to get started with a simplified or incomplete set up. There will be plenty of time during this demonstration to cover questions and individual challenges, so specific questions are welcome. If you are facing challenges on completing your studio set up – this class is for you.

Location: Online via Zoom. We are planning to make a recording of the program available to everyone who has registered, so you will be able to watch the entire program at your convenience even if you can’t join us live.

Registration: $35. https://printingmuseum.doubleknot.com/event/scarcity-letterpress-printing/2776307
