GUIDED TOURS AT THE PRINTING MUSEUM

The Printing Museum is currently offering tours by appointment only until further notice. During your guided tour, you will learn of early forms of printing, participate in the hands-on printing of a leaf of the Gutenberg Bible pulled from a replica press, print a copy of the Declaration of Independence on a 19th-century Columbian iron handpress, discover the importance of the Linotype machine, and witness advances in printing and self-publishing that came about in the 20th century. Your tour concludes with a visit to our craft studios, and temporary exhibitions (if offered at that time) and an optional 45-minute film, Harvest of Wisdom.

Please note that we are still in the process of collection inventory and evaluation as well as reinstalling and updating our galleries since suffering a fire last year.  Some galleries are not yet fully reinstalled — all will be ready when we re-open in late January 2018.  In the meantime, guided tours can be scheduled with the understanding that our galleries are in an irregular state and do not have complete signage and labeling.

Learn more about the Museum Collections and Upcoming Exhibitions.

Our artist-in-residence, Charles Criner, is available to visit your school, home school co-op, or other organization to speak about the museum and his work as an artist and stone lithographer. If you are interested in inviting Mr. Criner to speak to your group, please send an email to info@printingmuseum.org.

For more information, please call 713-522-4652 or email info@printingmuseum.org.

Silkscreen Option
Before concluding your tour, join our Artist-in-Residence Charles Criner in his studio to silkscreen your own T-shirt with a Museum design. The Silkscreen Option is available for an additional fee of $10 per person, which includes the T-shirt.  To burn your own custom screen, please allow two weeks minimum. We charge $75-$125 for the screen — which you get to take home with you!
