Clamshell Box Making

We will learn how to create a clamshell box to house a book, documents or photos. We will begin with a precut clamshell layout, put it together with instruction, using book cloth and decorative paper. We will learn grain direction, cutting and gluing techniques. We will learn how to measure your book and cut board and material so that you can continue your box making adventure at home. No previous binding experience necessary.

Cost:  $105 (Cost includes all materials)

Dates:  Saturday, December 17 2016, 12:00pm to 4:00pm

Cancellations and refund requests must be made a minimum of three days (72 hours) prior to the first class date, by calling (713) 522-4652. In the event that minimum enrollment is not met, the Museum reserves the right to cancel the class and will provide a full refund.

John-Michael Perkins is originally from Jackson, Tennessee. He received his MFA in Book Arts from The University of Alabama and has lived in Houston since 2013. Besides everything book arts related, his hobbies include reading, drawing, spinning basketballs on his finger, and cooking.
